When Betty's husband was diagnosed with dementia, they made the decision to receive additional support at a nearby senior living community.
“This is home,” Betty said. “We moved in 2006 so this is the only home we’ve had [since then], and I am very content. I was able to continue for a number of years working at the bank knowing he was happy here.”
Betty is able to focus on the things that bring her renewed purpose because day-to-day chores are handled by caregivers. “I enjoy having my meals prepared for me. I don’t have to do dishes or buy groceries, I’m just happy. I count my blessings everyday that this is my home,” said Betty.
Finding Purpose Through Service
Betty is also very active at her community! She manages three libraries and writes articles for the memory care community’s newsletter. “The things that I do here give me purpose,” Betty said. “My hope everyday is that I can be led to an opportunity to serve my fellow man.”
