“When you take care of somebody, you think no one is going to do it as well as you,” says Garry, the husband of a Marcia who is a resident at Villa at Terracina memory care community in Naples, Florida. “The hard part is letting go and realizing that there are professionals that can actually do that.”
“I am a perfectionist to begin with, so I just assume that no one can do anything as well as I can when it comes to caring for my wife,” says Garry.
For Garry, making the decision to transition Marcia to a memory care community was extremely difficult, but at the end of the day it came down to her quality of life.
“It makes me feel safe knowing that she is being taken care of, not only physically, but you can actually see how people care about other people here. That’s what any person really wants for their loved one.”
In another video, Garry shares how he addresses guilt after first transitioning Marcia to Villa at Terracina.
