Residents are at the heart of everything we do at The Goodman Group’s managed senior living and health care communities. That’s why we offer a platinum lifestyle, which comprises eight well-rounded categories offering signature programs, innovative partnerships, and life-enriching activities designed to help build connections and create meaningful experiences. From enriching social connections and chef-inspired dining to lifelong learning and engaging fitness programs, our approach ensures that every resident thrives.

Let’s take a closer look at how a few of our managed communities across the country are enriching resident’s lives every day with a platinum lifestyle.

1. Social: Building Connections and Creating Memories

A strong sense of community keeps life vibrant. Our managed communities offer diverse opportunities for residents to connect, whether through small gatherings or larger social events. From dancing and music to walking groups, shared hobbies, and even happy hours, there’s always something to bring people together.

Every managed community has a dedicated life enrichment director who helps plan programming tailored to residents’ interests. At Villa at Terracina Grand in Naples, FL, a memory care community at the Terracina Senior Living campus, residents enjoy interactive games using Tovertafel, a specialized gaming system designed to promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction and engagement.

At Old Main Village in Mankato, MN, the Twisted Stitchers quilting and knitting group brings residents together to share laughter and stories while creating handmade treasures. When the holidays roll around, seasonal activities help residents “create new traditions in their new home, celebrating with new neighbors,” says Karen B., national director of life enrichment.

These meaningful connections and shared experiences create a welcoming environment where residents feel a true sense of belonging, making every day more fulfilling.

2. Dining: Flavorful, Nutritious, and Personalized

Great food is at the heart of a great community. That’s why The Goodman Group developed Food for Life™, a chef-inspired dining experience that offers fresh, healthy, restaurant-style meals. The menus include options that are lower in sodium, fat and calories.

“We’re only as good as the last meal we served,” says Mark H., national director of culinary operations at The Goodman Group. Across the country, his culinary team’s job “is not just to put food on plates but to think about how the person views that plate physically and mentally.”

That personalized approach works. At the Ridges at Peoria Senior Living campus in Peoria, AZ, Dining Services Director Justin W. has seen residents go from relying on scooters to walking independently—simply because they’re fueling their bodies with nourishing meals.

3. Fitness: Staying Active, Staying Strong

Physical activity is essential for well-being, and we help residents stay active in ways that work for them. All our managed communities offer FIT Functional Fitness®, a program designed to improve core strength, balance and cardiovascular health while also promoting relaxation. The goal is to enhance overall wellness, reduce the risk of falls and encourage residents to stay active, supporting a healthier and more independent lifestyle.

Some locations also offer Rock Steady Boxing, a non-contact boxing fitness program for individuals with Parkinson’s. Tom, a resident at The Lodge, located on The Lakes at Stillwater campus in Stillwater, MN, says the program has improved his condition so much that, despite being in a wheelchair, he can sometimes stand during workouts.

At Westchester Gardens Health & Rehabilitation in Clearwater, FL, residents and patients with mobility challenges can access an anti-gravity treadmill, providing a low-impact way to build strength and endurance.

4. Spiritual: Finding Peace and Purpose

Soaring® is our unique approach to spiritual care, helping residents find peace, purpose, and meaning. We recognize that faith and spirituality are deeply personal, and Soaring® encourages residents to explore both past traditions and new experiences. Through reflection, connection, and a variety of spiritual opportunities, this program supports each individual’s journey in a way that is meaningful to them.

Kristen S., spiritual care director at West Hills Health & Rehabilitation in Portland, OR, says, “The most important thing I can do is simply be present, listen, and remind residents that they are not alone.”

At Miramont Pointe in Clackamas, OR, Spiritual Care Director Susan M., an ordained Presbyterian minister, provides guidance, counseling and officiates services to support residents in their faith.

5. Intergenerational: Bridging Generations, Strengthening Bonds

Bringing different generations together fosters joy, understanding, and a deeper sense of connection. Intergenerational programs create meaningful opportunities for residents to engage with younger people in ways that benefit both groups, strengthening relationships and building a true sense of community.

These programs help reduce feelings of isolation by fostering lasting friendships while encouraging mutual understanding between seniors and younger generations. For residents whose families live far away, these connections offer “grandfriend” relationships, providing the warmth and companionship of an extended family. A wonderful example is The Learning Center at Cypress Palms, located at The Palms of Largo campus in Largo, FL. This experiential preschool allows children and residents to interact daily, creating meaningful bonds that enrich the lives of all involved.

These connections enrich daily life, fostering a strong sense of community and reinforcing the idea that friendships can flourish at any age.

6. Service: Giving Back, Staying Involved

Many residents have spent their lives serving others, whether through teaching, military service or volunteer work. That spirit continues in our managed communities.

Valiant Veterans® is a program that honors residents who have served in the military, providing a space to connect, share stories and participate in recognition events. Residents also have the opportunity to engage in volunteer efforts, supporting local organizations and giving back to the communities they love.

7. Learning: Expanding Knowledge, Exploring Interests

From on-site courses and pursuing creative endeavors to getting out to enjoy nature, residents at communities managed by The Goodman Group are continuing to grow through lifelong learning. They are staying mentally sharp and physically active, making new friends, and boosting their sense of accomplishment and purpose. This commitment to lifelong learning takes many forms, reflecting the diverse interests of each resident.

Some embrace online learning, taking advantage of free courses available to seniors or reduced-cost classes at local colleges. Others have discovered a passion for gaming, with video games becoming a favorite pastime at Katella Senior Living Community in Los Alamitos, CA, and The Inn on Westport in Sioux Falls, SD. Meanwhile, at The Village Senior Residence in Missoula, MT, assisted living residents have found friendly competition and social connection through Wii bowling. No matter their interests, residents are continually finding new ways to engage, learn and enjoy life.

8. Environment: Creating a Space That Feels Like Home

A fulfilling lifestyle begins with a vibrant and supportive environment. Residents enjoy living in communities designed to be both beautiful and enriching, where every space fosters meaningful experiences and lasting connections. While each community has its own unique charm, all offer amenities that bring people together and improve daily life–fitness centers for staying active, pools (indoor and outdoor depending on location) for relaxation, inviting patio spaces with grills for social gatherings, cozy libraries, at-home-movie theatres, on-campus walking paths, billiard and gaming areas, on-site salons and more.

These thoughtfully designed spaces do more than provide comfort–they create opportunities for joy and engagement helping residents feel at home in every way.
